About

Thoughtful Paws Pet Care was born out of a love of caring for cats and dogs. After taking care of my friends' pets and realizing that pet care was was very important to me, I opened Thoughtful Paws in the spring of 2011. Since that time, we've serviced nearly 200 clients in Somerville, Cambridge, Allston, Brighton, Brookline, Arlington, Medford and Dorchester. In 2013, we've grown into a small business of four employees and expanded our dog and cat boarding services.

Hi! I’m Jenn. I am an avid animal lover and have had pets ranging from guinea pigs and rabbits to cats and dogs. Having had pets my whole life, I understand and appreciate how much they mean to their families and strive to let families feel that their little ones are in a safe and loving environment whilst being taken care of. Having the opportunity to work with beautiful animals makes my day every day and I love my job!

Hi, I'm Devin! I've always been a huge animal lover and animal welfare is important to me. I've rescued many cats in my neighborhood and worked with local shelters to get them adopted. My girlfriend and I have 5 cats of our own, and a few of them were rescues from my neighborhood. I can't imagine my life without cats in it! I have been with TPaws for over a year and love all of my furry clients!

Jess, (me!), Founder and Owner

Hi, I'm Jess! Like most pet owners, I have had a passion for animals since childhood. I grew up with dogs and have had cats as pets my entire adult life. I have 2 cats, Peter, who is 16 and Vivienne who is 3. I have had Peter for over 9 years and adopted Vivienne when she was just a few months old. They are a joy in my life and inspire me to make sure others know that their beloved pets are well taken care of when they are not home.

"I was very nervous about hiring someone to take care of my elderly cat because she needed various medications and was very skittish with other people. After researching online, I found Thoughful Paws and got in touch with Jessika. After email communication and our initial meeting, I knew I had found the perfect person to care for my cat. Jessika is very kind, professional, organized, and most importantly, great with animals. My cat is usually very wary of strangers but she warmed up to Jessika right away. While I was gone, Jessika came into my home twice a day and had no problems giving my cat her medications. She even sent me an email with a picture and a 'report card' of how everything went. I would not hesitate to use Jessika again and in fact have recommended her to many of my friends."

"Surpassed my expectations – I am not a new cat owner but a newly mature cat owner such that caretaking while away has only recently evolved from leaving plenty of food and water. As such, Jessika not only provides a much-needed service but also flexibility and expertise as I grow into this new role. In her initial meet n greet, she asked a host of thoughtful questions both about Mason (my cat), and how we care for each other. She even left a few treats for him while I was away. And as it dawned on me that perhaps a little more people time would be best during my absence, she was more than happy to accommodate on short notice – heck, she even beat me to an email confirming our arrangement. My only regret is that I don’t get to spend as much time with her as Mason does. Jessika is VERY professional while also being a delight and enthusiastic about what she does. Mason and I look forward to working with her for years to come!"

-Keri-Nicole D., Somerville, MA

"My 16 year old cat, Jasmine has some complicated care needs and Jess was ready to take them on with gusto. She requires an insulin shot twice a day at this point, and hopefully with proper care, it can be reduced to once a day. Having Jess in charge has given me peace of mind."
